“Heavy: The Weight Of It All is the first book of a young adult LitRPG series written by J.J. Thorn. Terrence Stine always wanted to be a Dungeoneer. At the age of sixteen, he gets his opportunity when the Goddess gifts him the Affinity, Weight, ironically the very thing Terrence felt tormented about his entire life. After hunting Arbadons with his uncle, Terrence sets off to Krader’s Prep School to learn more about his newfound abilities. He becomes fast friends with a boy named Zane Teller, a nobleman’s disgraced son, alongside whom he learns to use his Affinity and receives tactical, strategic, and physical training to operate in a team of Dungeoneers. He finally gets his chance to test his skills when one of his friends invites Terrence and Zane to a hunting exhibition.

“If you grew up playing MOBA games such as League of Legends, you’re going to love Heavy: The Weight Of It All. Author J.J. Thorn’s carefully crafted power system is well-laid-out, and it instantly piques your curiosity. It’s easy to see the influences of video games on the types of powers that the characters display. I particularly enjoyed the powers of Terrence and Zane, both of which I found refreshingly unique. The characters fulfill their roles seamlessly to keep the narrative moving forward. Terrence is a likable protagonist who is easy to relate to, and his progression from a shy and bullied teenager to a quietly confident young man feels satisfying to read. I highly recommend Heavy: The Weight Of It All to fans of LitRPG and progression fantasy.”
