“The Secret Eye is military history made into historical fiction by Brad Hanson’s introduction of running dialog. The book follows four main tracks, from the pre-war development of radar to World War II in the Pacific, the American life of Charlie Brand, and the Japanese life of Hadaki Yamatsumi. Hanson’s juxtaposition of these two ‘enemies’ and their families and motivations lends an element of human interest to a well-researched technical history of the Pacific War. Hanson has researched battles, timelines, and technology on both sides of the conflict, and provides details for the reader as each topic is broached.

“Readers who enjoy both military and historical fiction novels will enjoy The Secret Eye. It flows rapidly with clear timeline jumps true to the historical events. Brad Hanson’s research is detailed and used effectively in the opening chapters of this historical fiction version of pre-WWII interactions between the US, Great Britain, and Japan. As a reviewer with deep knowledge of the subject gleaned from long study, some personal experience, and a cohort of close friends who actually witnessed/participated in events from Pearl Harbor through the war itself, this is a well-delivered tale of Charlie and Hadaki dealing with life events forced on them at early ages by world events. Brad Hanson delivers a fast-paced, action-filled story with The Secret Eye that is recommended to those who enjoy learning mixed with entertainment. Hanson provides both. Thanks for a well-researched book, Brad. I enjoyed reading it!”
